Beloved actor Robin Williams, who is known for his many faces and voices, such as Mrs Doubtfire, The Genie and Alan Parrish in Jumanji to name a few, was found dead at the age of 63, in his own apartment in California on the 11th of August 2014. His death is a suspected suicide and the actor was pronounced dead at his home shortly after officials responded.
The whole world is shocked by the sudden death of the successful artist, well known for his comedian roles. The president of USA, Barak Obama led a tribute to the actor, where he stated:
“Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien – but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most – from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets.”
Many celebrities expressed their condolences but the most emotional message was from his wife and his daughter. His daughter, Zelda Williams dedicate him a part of the book “Little Prince” with the words:
“You – you alone will have the stars as no one else has them… In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night… You –only you- will have the stars that can laugh.”
His wife added that she has lost her husband, her best friend while the world lost one of its most beloved artist and beautiful human beings.
Robin McLaurin Williams was born on July 21, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, a great-great-grandson of Mississippi Governor and Senator Anselm J. McLaurin. Robin briefly studied political science, before enrolling at Juilliard School to study theatre.
Robin Williams has since stolen our of hearts in many roles. He will now be immortalized in film as Euphegenia Doubtfire & so many more amazing and lovable characters.

‘FURY OF THE GODS’ BY L.CHRISTODOULOU
The protagonists of ‘Fury of the Gods’ are the teenage brothers, Theo and Leon Smith. They are travelling to Athens with their parents to attend the Olympic Games but during the flight from London they become embroiled in an ancient Greek battle that has been raging in the sky for thousands of years. The boys are willing participants in the awesome but sometimes terrifying events that follow this collision of ancient and modern worlds.
‘Fury of the Gods’ is a fantasy in which the author succeeds in bringing to life those incredible times of antiquity, when fact and fiction so readily co-existed. It involves time travel between ancient and modern Greece, with many fascinating connections and comparisons that are fully explored by the author. The story, although suitable for all ages, is aimed primarily at young adults, inspiring them to appreciate the origins of so much of their civilization.
It was therefore very appropriate that ‘Fury of the Gods’ should be launched by Mrs Androulla Vassiliou, the European Commissioner for education, culture and youth. The launch, which took place in June, 2014 at the Hellenic Centre in Central London, was well attended, and the many people present, both young and not so young, showed much enthusiasm for ‘Fury of the Gods’.
Quoting Mrs Vassiliou:
‘Young people will enjoy L’s prodigious imagination, the surprising twists in the story, and the unexpected solutions to predicaments from which it could be feared nobody could possibly escape. This is a book that is fun to read, as all books for young people should be…
‘kids … need stories and adventures that speak to them, that grab their attention and won’t let it go until the conclusion of the story. They need to want to read on, to find out what happens next, and how it all ends. ‘Fury of the Gods’ is such a story. I am sure it will bring pleasure and enjoyment to many young people and take them on an exciting journey through a past that is still very much alive in each and every one of us.’
‘Fury of the Gods’ by L. Christodoulou is available to buy from the following bookshops:

The powers that be confirmed Cyprus is to make a strong comeback to the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria.
We all sorely missed our motherland in the competition after a year’s break and big plans for the open selection will find our Cypriot tune for next year’s milestone 60th Eurovision.
Reliable sources told LGR of the island returning last May which was confirmed in a press release on July 14th outlining the bold format which looks to artists and song-writing talent.
The concept has televised auditions to start with live Semi-Finals and Second Chance and the Cypriot Final in January 2015.
So if you’re feeling patriotic and a singer/song-writer you could well jump at the chance of flying the Cypriot flag in Eurovision.
The song-writers must have a Cypriot accredited to the team and fully involved in ‘creativity’ of the song with non-Cypriot contributors (eligibility to write a song also applies to all lyricists and composers of any country).
The entry can be sung in English, Greek, Cypriot dialect (je kali tixi) abiding by a 3 minutes song rule.
Cypriot singers or with Cypriot origin (yes this means British Cypriot singers can take part to fulfill ‘the dream’).
The deadline to submit a song is September 5th 2014, which is addressed to the ‘Cyprus National Final’ CyBC office.
The auditions has a ‘1 minute presentation’ of the song before the jury deciding the qualifiers that go on to semis.
There will be semi-finals voting for the favourite song to go on the final meanwhile 2nd placed entry enters Second Chance whereby two songs will be voted through to last round.
Our entry will be selected with jury and tele-voting at 50:50 equal votes, to go on to represent our island in Eurovision.
If you think you have the ability to write a ‘winning tune’ which we believe should mean that Cyprus has a sure-fire qualifier and certain top 10 semi-result then we’ll fully support you to get your creative juices flowing.
CyBC will be joining forces with MAD TV Cyprus in a new initiative to find the Cypriot song for next year’s event.
