LGR - Wednesday 16th 2008f April 2008
Greek Cypriot troubadour Alkinoos Ioannidis returns to England this spring as a part of a bigger European tour.
Ioannidis who sold out a show at Queen Elizabeth Hall last summer is going to present a rather different, more electric sounding band this time around.
Wednesday 7 May - Islington Academy London, Phone 0844 477 2000
For that he has recruited three of Greece's most skilled musicians: Yiorgos Kaloudis (5-string electric cello and Cretan lyra), Michalis Kapilidis (drums) and Stavros Lantsias (keys). Alkinoos will be playing lute, acoustic and electric guitar.
The band will perform re-arrangements of songs from his back-catalogue as well as covers, plus new and unreleased compositions that will be heard for the first time. Alkinoos on this tour has chosen to perform in small, cosy venues as he has done in the beginning of his thirteen-year career where he can engage easier with his audience.
