British Cypriot Antony Costa gave an intimate performance for his enthusiastic hard-core fans, at the Millfield Theatre, on March 2.
The former member of Blue was all pumped up to entertain the Edmonton crowd, never shying away from a chance to shake every hand in the auditorium, began proceedings with a fine tribute, singing Elvis Presley's 'That's Alright Mama'. The first part of the show saw other really good renditions including, Rod Stewart's 'Maggie May', Billy Paul's 'Me and Mrs Jones' and Michael Bauble's 'Moondance', captivating the audience throughout.
And then the inevitable occured with hit songs by Blue, 'One Love' and 'fly By'.
The show had gone on to let the audience in, in the question and answers' bit of the night which included former EastEnders stars and friends of the singer, Matt Di Angelo (Deano Wicks) and Ray Panthaki (Ronnie Ferreira). The whole affair was a good way to find out the finer details of how the the artist gone into the music business, and even his most embarrassing moments with Blue, the issue of broxenia also surfaced... Well, you can't escape the inner trappings of the Cypriot culture.
He performed other hits including a personal rendition of 'Sorry Seems to be The Hardest Word' and a moving interpretation of 'Ain't No Sunshine'.
The whole show had culminated in the same way it began, to honour those artists who had served to inspire this impressive London Cypriot singer, delivering a great version of George Michael's 'Freedom'.
