Michalis conquers love vote on LGR

Cypriot pop sensation Michalis Hatzigiannis had topped the LGR poll with the excellent song 'Pio Poly'.

The listeners had responded positively to LGR's Valentine's competition which voted for their favourite song! 'Pio Poly' had fetched 51.88 per cent of the poll, and voted the best love song on the air-waves of LGR 103.3FM!

Second was Alkistis Protopsalti and Antonis Remos 'Sagapo' on 25.8 per cent. Third placing went to Giannis Parios 'Gia Panta Mazi' 13.33 per cent and Peggy Zina 'Ime Edo' was fourth on 8.99 per cent.

Entrants for the quiz, were entered into a draw, for the chance to scoop two return air tickets to Cyprus, kindly donated by Cyprus Airways.

The star thrilled his hard-core fans with a Valentine's spirited concert, at the popular Athens club, the Vox on February 13.

The Cypriot heart-throb had cast a love potion on the thousands who descended to catch a mere glimpse of the romancer who was on song for the proceedings. It was championed as the biggest love show of 2008 - and the magnificient crowd who turned out had compounded that belief.

Nicosia-born Michalis, confirmed his status as an amazing live performer, with a performance which had a striking resemblance to his latest album, 'Zontana Sto Lykaddito' which was released prior to Christmas.

Hits such as 'Den Fevgo', 'Pio Poly', 'An Den koitazo Esena', 'Ola I Tipota' and 'Heria Spila' had whipped the vociferous crowd into a hearts and flowers whirlpool of love.

His soothing ballads, to passionate-invoked pop songs, went down a blast.

The massive fan-base in the UK are similarly ecstatic followers - his London tour in May of 1007 at the Hammersmith Apollo had saw staggering crowds which numbered 3.500.

Greatest selling contemporary artist
The Cypriot star has won a plethora of platinums and he carried off the award for Best Male artist in the Arion Music Awards 2007 - with further awards for Best Album and Best Single, with a burgeoning amount of trophies sitting on his mantlepiece.

Michalis had clinched other gongs in the Aphrodite music awards in Cyprus of last year, winning the accolade as the Best Male Singer, Best Album 'Fili Kai Exthroi' and Best Single 'Ola I Tipota'.
